My new little adventure...

Here is a glimpse of my new little "hobby!"  I found a little tiny corner in a local antique and gift shop in my little town....while strolling through, well I thought, I could have a booth in here....yeah, I could find something neat that people would want to buy!  So, I brought the idea up to my husband (thinking he would laugh at me) and he said, yes, I think you should do it!  I immediatly got excited with ideas of how I wanted my booth to look like....oh, but wait...what would I sell????  Humm, well, what does every girl like....jewerly and home decor pieces!  We live in a small town, so once you are here and away from the big city where everything is, you might just say...oh I wish I had this or that....but don't want to drive back into town to get something.....well, I can fix that!  Anyway, as much as I would love to have my own shop, I DONT want to have to deal with working it and dealing with all the hassle.  All I have to do now is make sure my inventory is full!  Oh, and that's miserable....SHOPPING!  I'm starting off small, but things have already gotten out of control!  In one week, I have really sold way more than I ever thought...so how exciting!  Anyway, here are a couple pics of my display and some of the items in it.  I had so much fun doing this, if I didn't sell one thing, I wouldn't care...it's fun coming up with ideas on how to present something...I can hardly stand it!   I will keep you posted on how it's going! FUN FUN FUN!

A Tuscan-Style Home with Rustic Touches





Nye started with the Elizabeth Eakins rug in the "elegant but incredibly comfortable" living room, pulling out the colors for the upholstery and pillows. The wing chair is covered in a hand-blocked linen from Hazelton House; the Rose Tarlow Celestial sofa is covered in Morgan velvet by Michael S. Smith. Walls are ivory.

As an homage to the signature lime-washed paneling of David Adler and Frances Elkins, Nye lightened the den's somber mahogany to this mellow café au lait. Club chairs in a Cowtan & Tout linen velvet gather around a Crate & Barrel coffee table that Nye customized with a tufted leather top. "I really am a believer in high-low," he says, "even if the term has become a cliché."



Subtly layered colors and sculptural shapes make up a Joe Nye "moment of richness" in the master-suite vestibule of a new Santa Barbara house. An 18th-century Continental Italian faux-bois cabinet is flanked by 17th-century Spanish Colonial chairs. Portuguese needlepoint carpet from John Iloulian.
